“The Happiest 5k On The Planet”

The Shine Tour hosts the popular and quickly growing “Color Run” and they have an event coming up in October not too far from Chatham County! My daughters have been talking about doing a fun event like this together and I have been working towards this goal to experience something like this with them. These 5k races are a fun way to get those of us who don’t identify as “runners” introduced to the world of races or if you are a runner like one of my daughters, she says it’s a fun way to just enjoy and have fun with running.

Upcoming Race

There is an upcoming Color Run on October 3rd at the Research Triangle Park and the best way to ensure your spot at the starting line is getting your tickets online in advance! For teams of 4 or more, the registration fee is $39.50 per runner and individual runners are $45 each. Part of the proceeds will be donated to charities also! The race begins at 9am and waves of runners will begin between this time and 9:45am. Come early though! There is a pre party at the start line with music, group stretching and giveaways. The 5k (about 3.2 miles) race goes through the Research Triangle Park where runners should start wearing all white and by the end of the race they will be covered in a variety of colors that are tossed on them at each kilometer marker through the race. After the race, enjoy the after party with music, dancing, and more color tossing! This untimed raced is a great activity for runners of all ages and running experience.

Interested In Finding More Races?

My daughter who enjoys running uses the Running In The USA website to find races in North Carolina, you can even change the settings to look at races across the country. We have had fun making family trips out of some of these events to cheer her on and to make a little vacation out of the event. A lot of races have food and music at the finish line and are in locations with lots to see and do.
